Pre-Course Work

We hope that you are looking forward to your Certified Scrum Professional® – ScrumMaster training course with Agile Centre!

To get the most from your training, complete the steps 1-8 below. We will be discussing each item in the class.

Please do make notes and bring these with you to the class.

  1. Refresh your Scrum knowledge
  2. Investigate the historical development of Lean
    • Read and make notes on this
  3. Consider two (2) scenarios where you helped a team develop
    • Write summaries of both situations, including the context, approach and thinking involved
  4. Be ready to coach, and be coached
    • Come prepared with a few topics or questions on which you wish coaching.
  5. Consider a time where you helped an organisation transition to a more Agile way of working
    • Write a summary, including the context, approach, and thinking involved
  6. Investigate motivation and engagement
  7. Consider a time when you have organised a large-scale meeting
    • Write a short, 600-word maximum, post about your experience, including:
      • the purpose of the meeting
      • what thinking you had about your approach
      • the tools and techniques you used
      • how the meeting went
      • what you learned from the experience
      • what you would do differently if a similar opportunity presented itself
  8. Prepare to train two (2) topics, of your choice, from the world of Agile
    • The training will be a five-minute timebox
    • Previous sessions have included:
      • Agile frameworks such as Scrum, Kanban, XP, and LeSS
      • Scrum roles and responsibilities
      • Introduction to Transactional Analysis
    • Your final topic will be decided on the afternoon of day one and delivered on the morning of day two.

Please email your summaries from steps 3, 5, and 7, and the topics from 8 to pre-work@agilecentre.com before the course starts.
