Is the ACSM a steppingstone to the CSP-SM course?

The Advanced Certified Scrum Master (A-CSM) course was designed to act as a bridge between the Certified Scrum Master (CSM) course and the Certified Scrum Professional Scrum Master (CSP-SM) course.

The Scrum Alliance identified that the gap between the two courses was too great and practicing scrum masters would need a bridging course that empowered them to upskill their knowledge, tools, and resources within a year after completing the Certified Scrum Master course.

A course that helped them evolve into an advanced scrum master and practice as a professional scrum master for at least another year before seeking to certify as a Certified Scrum Professional Scrum Master.

The Certified Scrum Master course is great for preparing new Scrum Masters for the role and providing them with the foundation knowledge, tools, and resources they need to lead as a scrum master in a scrum team.

It doesn’t, however, prepare scrum masters for the more advanced challenges they will face whilst working in a scrum environment.

The Advanced Certified Scrum Master course is designed to build on the foundation knowledge, skills and tools of a scrum master and provide them with the more advanced knowledge, skills, tools, and resources they will need as they advance in their career.

The goal of any training course is to help you become better at your profession and overcome the challenges you face in a working environment.

The ACSM is designed to do exactly that.

It is designed to help you grow as a scrum master and provide you with the foundation knowledge, tools, and models you will need to start practicing coaching and facilitation within your role as a Scrum Master.

Often, a scrum master will coach the team to find the best answers they are capable of and will also work with people outside of the scrum team to help remove impediments to progress. Coaching and facilitation are important skills for a scrum master and the A-CSM will help you develop those skills.

The ACSM also focuses on more advanced elements in providing service to the team as well as the product owner. A combination of tools, techniques, and insights combine to help you grow in your role as a scrum master and provide more effective service in these areas.

The ACSM also explores teamwork and how team dynamics work. You’re going to learn how to harness the power of working in teams and how that can assist you in creating products and services that truly delight customers.

The Certified Scrum Professional Scrum Master course builds on these elements with a greater exploration into each of the sections to develop deep skill in all areas relating to the Scrum Master role.

You would need to have successfully completed the Advanced Certified Scrum Master course and achieved the certification in order to sign up for the Certified Scrum Professional Scrum Master course and you would need at least a years’ worth of experience practicing as an advanced scrum master to certify as a Certified Scrum Professional Scrum Master.
