What are career opportunities for an Agile coach?

The sky is truly the limit.

An Agile coach works with large and small organisations around the world. You could be invested in helping individuals as they progress through their apprenticeship and journeyman phases of their career or you could be working with executive leadership of the organisation.

You could be working with teams within the organisations to transform them into high-performing, Agile environments that unleash their creativity and passion.

You could become a coach for coaches. Actively helping them on their journey as a coach and blending coaching and mentorship to help them reach their highest potential.

Some people prefer to work for an organisation as an in-house Agile coach and there are lots of opportunities within the market for such a role.

Earning potential for an Agile coach varies between £40,000 and £180,000 per annum.

Other people prefer the freedom of their own coaching practice and serve clients from all around the world.

Earning potential for an Agile coach with their own practice varies between £62,500 and £400,000 per annum.

It depends on what you want to invest your time in doing and aligning your efforts with your strengths.

I work as an entrepreneur in a thriving training organisation that focuses on Scrum Alliance Agile training courses, but I do also work as a coach for select clients around the world.

Ideally, you will use the frameworks and models from your coaching skillset to help you determine what the best path for your own progression is and set out to achieve your personal goals and objectives along the way.

There are different seasons in each of our careers and you may find that working as an in-house Agile coach is a great way to develop your skillset until such time as you decide to set out on your own as an independent consultancy.

My advice would be to talk to as many coaches as you possibly can and get a feel for the pros and cons of each career path. Likewise, it would be great for you to build relationships with coaching mentors and learn from their career progression.
