What is a Certified Scrum Product Owner?

A Certified Scrum Product Owner is someone who has attended the Scrum Alliance CSPO course and achieved the product owner certification.

What does that mean?

It means that they are prepared for the role of a Scrum Product Owner.

The CSPO course covers the fundamentals of scrum including all the roles, artefacts and events that make up a scrum environment.

So, a Scrum Product Owner will understand the role of scrum masters as well as the development team in producing great products.

The course teaches you about the value of a product vision. It teaches you how to create and articulate the product vision in a way that inspires the team to create products or solve problems in ways that truly delight customers.

The course will also teach you about how to construct a backlog of items for the development team.

You will learn to map out a product roadmap and communicate those elements to your team effectively. You’ll also understand the benefits of working closely with product stakeholders and customers to ensure that you are building the right product in the right way.

The Certified Scrum Product Owner course is a 2-day full-time course so it won’t teach you mastery in a scrum environment but it will give you a rock-solid foundation in the role.

You will learn how to work with a development team in prioritising and ordering work so that the most valuable elements of the product are tackled first, ensuring that each sprint delivers a sprint goal that features a working element of the product that is valuable.

A Scrum Product Owner is someone who has the skills to transform their idea into a working reality.

They know how to articulate their ideas and collaborate with others into transforming working ideas into working features, products and services that customers love.
